Sportcoat Concrete Primer

This document sets out the description of and information regarding Concrete curing membrane which is formulated with a special acrylic emulsion that solves many problems inherent in colour coating concrete tennis courts, when mixed with portland cement, processed sand, and applied to freshly laid concrete.

Material Description
Sportcoat Curing membrane is an elastomeric , acrylic bound material, designed to be compatible with Portland cement concrete, and to be applied to concrete that has hardened sufficiently to withstand deformation. (i.e. no less than 10 hours from installation).

To be applied over new concrete substrate that is to be colour coated with Sportcoat Recreational Coatings Systems. The material is not designed to be of particular value on old concrete, or on asphalt surfaces, but simply as a curing membrane and to promote adhesion to concrete tennis court slabs.

Concrete should be laid to correct surface falls, and be surface finished with a soft broom. Stir Curing membrane to ensure uniform distribution of mineral solids, and pour in a windrow along the area to be coated. Spread with squeegee in same manner as Sportcoat Filler to coat the entire surface. Avoid leaving ridges, lumps or any other defects and allow to dry or cure overnight. After membrane is dry, scrape off any lumps or other defects and make good the membrane. The membrane should then be left undisturbed until the installation of the final surface system. This should not take place until after a further cure 24 hours curing period has elapsed.
Occasionally, after the Sportcoat Systems have been applied over concrete curing membrane a white efflorescence condition may develop. It this occurs, simply wash areas with a mild (5%) muriatic acid solution, then rinse with water. This condition is a by-product of cement and/or portland cement.

Remove all spilled material immediately. Clean all equipment with water immediately after use. Do not apply when temperature is below 10 deg C or with rain, or high humidity is imminent. Extend all curing periods as appropriate during cool weather. Do not apply if surface temperature is above 40 deg C. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Do not add water. Keep from freezing. Do not store in direct sunlight. Do not take internally. Keep out of reach of children.

The material is packed in 20L and 200L Drums.
